The Problem
Recently our school has been undergoing budget cuts, so we decided that since the Janitors don't have enough time to do deep, deep cleaning the students would do it. Deep cleaning as in power washing, and repainting deep. We gathered together twenty students who are volunteers and help out, and christened it the Sparkle Shine Club. We have had several clean up sessions already, but we just have not done anything major due to lack of funding. We have done things such as scrub floors and desks, but those are simple things that are fairly simple to do and do no long lasting cleansing. We are trying to do something that leaves a more permanent effect, such as repainting dirty walls, and pressure washing gum off the floor. The reason we need to keep our school clean is because our school is not just a school. Encompassed in the school there is both a community center which serves double duty as an auditorium/gym, and a cafeteria inside, with a religious center in the campus as well. The community center is crucial to the survival of the entire community of East Valley. Besides weekdays, the gym and religious center are open on weekends, with the youth coming there and playing basketball with friends, and keeping them out of trouble with anti-drug seminars and other programs.
Plan of Action
Our plan of action is to maintain a group of volunteers to help and clean. But for cleaning we need supplies (paint), and to keep our volunteers motivated we need some food and drink as well.
