The Problem
We are committed to showing high school students that learning can be fun, enriching, and enjoyable. and we hope to ignite our students' creativity as well as their desire to continue learning and to one day attend college. Our program is free and open to all high school age students, and our classes are hands-on activity based. Instead of learning about Indian culture from a book, students perform a mock Indian wedding. Instead of learning about cities from a movie, students draw their own ideal cities.
Plan of Action
We are in constant communication with both the college student teachers who lead our classes and the high school students who take our classes. We recruit, interview, and then train our college student teachers, and we also visit high schools and community centers to give presentations to students about our programs. Additionally, we provide an opportunity for students to learn more about colleges and scholarships. As a result, our students feel more confident about learning and are more at home in the college environment.
