The Problem

We are trying to do our part to help bring peace to people in areas torn by war and conflict. In 2003, three communities in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) were part of a devastating massacre where hundreds of people died. We want to help make sure this doesn't happen again-- we want to help keep peace for generations to come.

Plan of Action

We want to do this the right way and work with the local communities during the entire process to make sure that everything is relevant and effective. A member of our team will move to DRC this year to continue building relationships with the people and work with them to lay the groundwork for the project. We will begin soccer leagues in each of the 3 communities that focus on peace education (leadership, fair play, mercy, inclusion, teamwork, etc). Eventually, when the communities are ready, we will begin inter-community leagues where kids that may have once fought each other can play peacefully together on the field. This will be a huge step toward long-term peace.
