The Problem

Through SpringSing: Voices United for a Cure, the money raised is donated directly to the American Cancer Society (ACS). This money goes to research, making patients feel more comfortable, and raising awareness in the community about the disease. The purpose of the ACS is to benefit all those who have ever suffered from cancer, those who currently suffer, and those who may develop the disease. My goal for Team Burns is for it to continue long after I am gone. I am doing as much as I can to make that possible by setting the foundation now. When my mother, the team captain, asked if I wanted to change Team Burns from a RFL team to a full-fledged, non-profit organization for the ACS, there was no doubt in my mind that I wanted to do it. I had put in too much love, passion, and work to let it stop there. Team Burns is still going strong, and I hope that it never falters.

Plan of Action

Over the past year, Team Burns has raised more than $13,000 for the ACS. We have also given several food baskets to families affected by cancer for Thanksgiving. Last but not least, our concert, SpringSing: Voices United for a Cure has consistently garnered an audience of 600+, and has done an awesome job of raising awareness and money for the ACS.
