The Problem

The seal hunters in Canada kill the baby Harp seals for their fur. In 2009 The EU banned the export of their seal fur, but in defiance Parliament raised the kill quota from 300,000 to 333,000 and began importing dog and cat fur from China. http://www.ifaw.org/ifaw_united_states/media_center/press_releases/09_24_2009_57905.php From a business standpoint this industry is losing money. As a result, the Canadian government is forcing the citizens to fund the hunt, though polls have always shown that most Canadians are sickened by the hunt. http://greenparty.ca/media-release/2010-03-12/encouraging-commercial-seal-hunt-keeping-canadian-workers-dying-industry When this year's INTERNATIONAL protests began, some of the local governor's at Canadian rallies showed up wearing fur.

Plan of Action

Since this has been going on for so long, it is obvious that letters and outward signs of disgust are not enough to change the minds of Canadian Parliament. After all, if you have to tell someone how awful it is, are they going to care about your opinion.
