The Problem

I'm trying not just to curve the street and gang violence in underprivileged communities, I'm trying to eliminate it completely! This project is an artistic eye-opener, using the mediums or video, photography, poetry, skits, and the internet, and combining them with anti-violence marches and community functions to immerse my community (and through the internet all communities) in a different mindset; a mindset of furtherance, hope, and peace.

Plan of Action

What I want to do is host marches and make bi-weekly summer essay contests for students. The essay topics would be about great leader's from their city, about creative ideas to stop violence, and about other positive topics. The winner's would win $100 dollars, and the marches (2) will be at the begining of summer and the end. To get the students to know about those things I began making videos, and then made a website so similar areas in the country could benefit from these nonviolence ideas. Now I'm developing a site that will host poetry, dance, speeches, positive rap and clothing, and many other elements that will inspire youth to achieve more than just "the block." If successful, the site will serve as a national positive resource, and will be a "go to" place for fresh and positive events going on in underprivileged communities.
