The Strings of the Heart Orchestra (SOHO) aims to provide music education of the highest level to beginning instrumentalists regardless of race, religion, ethnicity, socioeconomic conditions, gender, or disability. In recent years, interest in classical music education and music education in general has been dwindling, and music education programs are often the first to be cut due to budgetary concerns. This lack of interest and involvement is depriving youths of the opportunity to reap the many benefits of creating music. These benefits, that have been explored in multiple experiments and books such as "Music Advocacy" by John Benham, include higher scores on standardized tests, higher grades, opportunities to explore other cultures in a unique way, learning the true meaning of "practice makes perfect", and learning to work with others in an environment where doing your part is essential to the success of the group. These values are indispensable in the modern world and there is simply no better way to obtain these benefits than from music education.
