The Problem

My state has been ranked as 49th in terms of education. Many children reach their senior years of high school without being able to read books that 6th graders could read. Certain parts of my town are full of children whose parents work several jobs and who are unable to assist their children's educational experience. Recent budget cuts have severely hampered efforts to excite children about learning.

Plan of Action

I began my project at the local Boys and Girls Club, where I have been implementing some of my ideas. All of the children enrolled in their summer program are now participating in the summer reading program through the library. I plan to introduce tutoring, and science projects.
