Summer Workation

For 15-25% of the year nearly 6MM teachers are on summer vacation. Unfortunately during this time talented teachers often engage in suboptimal opportunities that offer minimal compensation or personal/professional development. Furthermore, the process to find these opportunities is inefficient and dependent upon disorganized information. Our market research suggests that teachers are dissatisfied with the summertime opportunities available to them. Amy a teacher from Boston confirms this: "As a teacher who always dreaded the limited summer opportunities that tend to be available, I am very excited about the prospect of doing something new, enjoyable, and worthwhile, and with my interests and desires at heart.” Additionally, the few organizations that do work with teachers over the summer encounter recruiting and hiring challenges. With no centralized resource, these organizations inefficiently rely upon personal networks, untargeted platforms or expensive recruiting campaigns to select from a limited number of candidates. Consequently, these organizations (many that are central to student summer learning) are unable to connect with the best teachers.
