Plan of Action

I am the director of Medical Affairs for Harvard University's Global Medical Brigade. We are affiliated with the Harvard Undergraduate Global Health Forum and the Francis-Xavier Bagnoud Center for Health & Human Rights. My team (including a physician) along with health care workers on the ground will deliver enough medication to treat 400 patients over the course of three months. My brigade will only be in Honduras for seven days, but the Honduran health care workers will continue to supply the villages we visited with medication we brought. When the medication runs low another team will be arriving to treat the villages we assisted (approximately 3 months from our trip). This cycle will continue and a sustainable global health initiative will be created within this department. While on our journey we will be educating health care providers and individuals on basic care practices in order to provide a sense of empowerment for the village. Our hope is to serve the region through treatment and education in order to build a stronger Honduras.
