teen court
the problem:
I am a defense attorney for misdemeanor cases in a court room.

6why it's important:
This is important to me because I help teens in my age range come to a conclusion that what they did was wrong and it’s an action that shouldn’t be repeated again. The program is basically a second chance for teens, hoping that later in the future they make better choices.
the plan of action:
Teen Court is program for teens that get caught in the middle of a misdemeanor act and are transported to the JAC then agree to go through the “teen court” process. After that they enter a court room and during their cases their giving their side of the story and within their testimony the jury (other kids caught in acts) come up with a punishment. It’s not guilty or not guilty because in the end these teens will get punished but my job is to show the court that he/she is remorseful for their actions and that it won’t happen again.
how you can get involved:
It’s basically a volunteer opportunity for any students who want to become future lawyers or any position with the legal service department. So anyone who wants to join will come in, go through a training, get a visual understanding of how the court works then will also have the chance to take part in the courts procedure.
