The Problem
After there were mud slides in Guatemala, the elementary level schools were rare on supplies and even teaching grounds. We fundraised before we left for Guatemala by selling bracelets that were made there, and bought art supplys and school supplys for them.
Plan of Action
My first plan of action was to make sure that the trip was done, and that we had supplies to take to the schools. It took so much time and energy to plan the meetings, bake sales, jewelry sales, flight times, bus rides, boat trips, hotel reservations and so much more to be able to make this trip happen and be able to lead it. In the end, we were not only able to go on the trip, but we were able to host an english vocabulary lesson day at one school, and a "game day" at another school. In addition, we were also able to make signs to put up at the schools to give them color and remind the kids to do things such as washing their hands. Now that that trip is over, I hope to keep in contact with the schools and have another trip.
