The Problem
We hope to increase our donations of gently used jeans this year to help local homeless teens and their families.
Plan of Action
I held a planning meeting w/my co-presidents at my home this past weekend. We planned a club meet for later this week and we decided to put together a short power point to refresh members on what 'Do Something' is in NY and what our local chapter does throughout the year. We included our two required national projects and will focus on Teens for Jeans(a lot of our members are new this yr!) We included a hyperlink to our Woodgrove site and the National 'Do Something" site to show them what we and other clubs have done around the country for this project. We hope this will encourage NEW ideas and get kids involved. We will make posters during the meeting and have sign up sheets for advertising, promotion(farmer mkt), and a planning committee for a 'Winter' mixer dance we are planning for two local middle schools. The schools recently split and we thought they'd enjoy a social event together but they must bring a pair of jeans to attend! We hope we can pull this off! In addition, we hope to partner with a local 'do something' club and our own school's SCA club. We will also make the usual school announcements, hang posters, send out texts, advertise project on our Facebook site, put out collection boxes at local library, community center, and several local stores that we got approval for. Lastly, we will be at the local farmers market in Dec n Jan telling community about our event and drop off locations. I hope to have more ideas after our first meeting. Updates to follow...
