See It

For many years now, The Daytona Beach area has been immersed in expensive tourist traps that were meant to boost the economy. Unfortunatley, over time, this has not been successful, and the locals have had to face their fair share of let downs financially. The Daytona Playhouse gives the community an opportunity to overlook this in their lives and allows them to be apart of something wether they are in the audience, behined the scenes, or on stage providing laughter to the fellow community members that have fallen under hard times. A pure non-profit organization, all ticket sales, (proven to be the cheapest in the county), are used for the next production and for housekeeping expensis in the theatre. The volunteers at the playhouse don't have to pay a penny. It is a pure cycle that has worked for decades. Unfortunatley, the citizens that have kept the old theatre are now turning in age, and will no longer be able to participate. Because of this, it is my job to get the word out there to the younger thespians that care so much about theatre, and need a community that they can call home. With the support of this scholarship, I may be able to fund Summer or Winter programs for children, which the playhouse has not had in years. This is just one of the many ways I can redeem the playhouse's reputation and keep the cycle rolling.

Believe It

As of today, there are continuing productions that have been chosed for next years season that are apropriate for younger performers, which will hopefully cause and stimulate the relationship that our theatre has with the younger community. This summer, I myself am coordinating a one act production that involves performers of all ages. This production will be a pure profit opportunity for the Playhouse, as I am directing it for free and will not spend any money on it.

Build It

The Daytona Playhouse has been around since 1955 and has given me the opportunity to make friends and be apart of the community that surrounds it. I have been offered the chance to be a board member for this fine establishment that continues to give back to the community through inexpensive entertainment, a place to volunteer and belong, and scholarship opportunities for students. As a board member, I hope to continue to bring a younger crowd of volunteers that will keep the theatre alive and running for many, MANY, years to come.

How Can Others Get Involved?

 www.daytonaplayhouse.org
You can help by becoming a member of the playhouse and volunteering for small projects that don't necassarily require for you to be on stage. There are always acting opportunities as well as directing that needs to be done. You can also come and see our shows at any time. Your ticket sale will contribute to keeping the program running smoothly.
