The Problem

In the past few years many new students have come to our school system. These new students are from Puerto Rico and they need a lot of help with their English. Due to their struggling English they also struggled with school work and interacting with the other students. My friend Ben and I decided to help them adjust to their new school and home settings.

Plan of Action

Firstly, my friend Ben had a meeting with the teacher who was involved with them. They discussed what the kids needed most and worked out a plan to get everything started. I was then put in charge of finding capable tutors to help 7 Puerto Rican children. This group has evolved and grown more and more over the past year. We have gained 6 other students: 3 Paletstinian, 1 other Puerto Rican (he has Down Syndrome) 1 Ukranian, and 1 Phillipino. Even the parents of some of the students have come to our tutoring sessions for help with their English. All of our students have become comfortably assimilated into the schools, and they have improved exponentially since last year.
