The Eyes of Rochester
the problem:
A major problem in the city of Rochester is that people can’t afford glasses. 73% of people are poor in the city of Rochester and can’t afford glasses. Prescription glasses can cost more than $300 a pair! Some people live their lives not being able to see, but they deserve to. Kids in schools are unable to see the chalkboard or read their homework that’s posted on the bulletin board. They want to succeed, but they just can’t see the board or read their homework. What if someone’s in the car and can’t read a sign or tell when the light turned red. They can get into a serious accident and it really wouldn’t even be their fault. Or what if someone’s is walking to work, and can’t read the walking sign and get’s into an accident. That too wouldn’t be their fault. That’s why people in the city of Rochester deserve glasses just as much as we do.

2why it's important:
It’s important to more than just us because when you are in the city of Rochester you notice that a lot of people do not have homes. When you see this it makes you feel lucky for the things that you have. People in the city of Rochester cannot afford things like we can. Some things that we have like game boys, cell phones and iPods are things that in the city of Rochester some people can’t afford. One of the most important things that people can’t afford down in the city of Rochester is glasses. People live their lives walking and not being able to see things in the world. With glasses it would be a great new life for people because they will be able to see things that they couldn’t before. That’s why we think that the people in the city of Rochester should be able to have glasses just as much as we deserve to.
the plan of action:
The plan of action is that we can collect gently used prescription or reading glasses from people who would donate them. Then we would have a fundraiser and raise money to also donate to the kids and schools in the city of Rochester. At the schools, they can also buy glasses, or support the nurse with some new equipment or something that they either need or should have. The parents of the kids that the money was donated to, they can use the money for doctor visits, or if their child or even the adult themselves can put the money towards a new pair of glasses. When kids can’t see it makes their lives more difficult for them to live. People can get hurt when they can see and they are walking on the streets. That is the plan of action we are hoping to follow.
how you can get involved:
People will love to help kids that can’t see the worlds be able to. People can do this by donating their gently used glasses to us to send off to Assumption Of Our Lady or Pearle Vision. You are also able to send the glasses of to Johanna Perrin Middle School. When we do this, we will be able to help the people in the city of Rochester that can’t afford glasses this will help them to see the world so much better. Some people who can not see get made fun of. Just because people wear glasses doesn’t mean that they are different. That’s how you can get involved, so join the event and help others!
