The Feminine Genius

Last semester I worked on a Graphic Design Capstone project. I made a 20 page publication/book about the dignity and beauty of women. I wrote a questionaire that was sent out to over 250 women and 67 wrote back to me. Examples of the questions were: What does it mean to be a woman?, What do you think of beauty?, What makes you beautiful?, etc. The responses I recieved were so genuine and full of love. I was so impressed by all of the wonderful things all of these ladies had to say and it definitely made me proud to be a woman. What I did, then, was take their comments and compose a lovely little book made up of images and typography. It was such a great project and the response was unbelievable. People were thanking me for making them think about these things! My design professor has really been encouraging me to find funding to get my book professionally printed - in mass quantities - and send it to places like Women's Resource Centers, Abuse Centers, Sororities, and other places where there are women who would benefit from hearing why they are special and why they are beautiful. I am also planning on creating a blog where women can continue to contribute their words and thoughts - a place where conversations can occur.
