The basic objective is to create a unique garden in a setting where students could utilize the things they were learning in the classroom and at the same time interact with and support members of our community. We are fortunate to have the Living Community, a center for our senior citizens. One of the most essential aspects of this project was to actively involve the senior citizens at the Living Community. A mixed-generational project. The residents would have the opportunity to interact with our youth, gain companionship and participate in a project that would be mutually rewarding to all involved. Our students would also benefit greatly from exposure to individuals who are able to provide them with a sense of history, perspectives on life, and advice fabricated on many years of life's experiences. It is my opinion that this project will bring together students and teachers, parents and friends, and different generations in a world beyond the classroom.
