The Germ Killers
the problem:
Younger children, particular 5-10, don't practice proper hand washing and health-safety tips unless told by their parents. The goal is to educate every young child how to protect themselves from nasty germs but in a fun and interactive way, starting in High schools and extending it to daycare centers with the focus on youth teaching youth.

30why it's important:
More and more kids are staying home from school with health-related illnesses such as the common cold, flu, and H1N1 virus. With the recent cases of the H1N1 virus and the current temperature drop, now is the time for everyone to learn about how to protect themselves from getting sick, especially children. I chose this age group because the earlier we teach them, the more they become aware and "If they know better, they do better."
the plan of action:
To create a germ-killer team in every Frederick County high school that will perform a 20-minute presentation to kids and talk about the dangers of spreading germs and the importance of staying healthy. In each Frederick County Public High Schools, there is a child development center that the students can access to learn child development skills while interacting with young kids. Each team will include 5-7 students and the 20-minute presentation will consist of pictures, proper coughing techniques, and a hand-washing demonstration.
how you can get involved:
Create a team in your school to teach younger kids how to practice health safety.
