Don’t Be A Butthead! Great American Smokeout 2007
The Great America Smokeout is a national and annual event held the 3rd Thursday of November every year. Every year millions of people across the nation pledge not to smoke to make a stance against the harms of smoking and second hand smoke or to share in the experience and struggles of quitting for one day. Don’t be a butthead! Remember to come sign the pledge sheets November 14th and 15th. Elk Grove High School’s Public Service Practicum class wants you to know The Great American Smokeout is November 15th. The day before The Smokeout (November 14th) there will be a table set up at the Elk Grove Pavilion from 4 to 8 in the afternoon where community residents can sign pledge sheets. On the official Smokeout day (November 15th) there will be a table set up at Elk Grove High School for students to sign up and Jim Dedera will be speaking to every gym class about the benefits and effects of smoking. At both locations people who pledge not to smoke for the entire 24 hours of the 15th will receive a goody bag with several useful items and information on the cessation program offered at the Kenneth Young Center.
