The Magnolia Project is a student, staff and faculty initiative committed to raise on-campus awareness of the injustices surrounding Hurricane Katrina.The Magnolia Project is a summer service trip to the New Orleans to help the victims of Hurricane Katrina in their reconstruction efforts.

We seek to serve the disenfranchised, low income communities of the region by supporting political campaigns, providing mini- grants to local nonprofits, and organizing service trips. We are a resource for all campus members who feel compelled to take action.
the plan of action:
One hundred students from the University of California, Berkeley will be going down to the New Orleans this summer to assist with physical efforts to rebuild New Orleans from May 22 through June 12th for a three week long service trip that will change our perception of what hurricane Katrina is all about.
