The Problem

"The Melissa Cole Show" intends to educate and empower urban communities on Long Island about environmental and health concerns that can be overshadowed by the overwhelming campaigns, resources, and efforts poured into the reduction of crime, the proliferation of drugs, or lowering high school dropout rates in these areas.

Why It's Important

Everyone on our planet needs to be on a single page about handling global warming, pollution, and other pressing environmental concerns. However, these can be considered "rich" problems, and may not be priorities in areas of our country that already face major challenges with poverty and/or crime. "Composting? We've got bigger fish to fry," someone once told me. This chain of thought needs to be broken around the country, and I would like to start by empowering those in my own backyard with the knowledge they need to be more conscientious citizens of our planet.

The Plan Of Action

Every week, "The Melissa Cole Show" engages public access television viewers and web viewers with discussions and informational topics on eldercare, healthy living, and environmentalism. These segments are intended to educate, and are presented in a light, fun, and easy to understand manner that empowers viewers with knowledge and will hopefully inspire them to take action.

How Can Others Get Involved?

We are always looking for guests and contributors to join in on the discussion on our show. We are also looking for someone local to donate space where we can film sit down interviews.
