The Playground Project, for the kids at Crisis Ministries Charleston, South Carolina A few of my friends and I (we are six (6) yrs old) started a project to raise money for the homeless shelter and soup kitchen in Charleston. We think that every kid should have a playground, somewhere at the shelter to have some fun, laugh and play and just be kids. We have raised about $3,000 to build a nice playground but have $12,000 more to go to do it right. We have had bake sales in our neighborhood, we've worked at festivals to raise money and we also started a website that people can donate to: www.firstgiving.com/playgroundproject. We hope to have more kids help us by doing the same thing. We have talked to our friends at our school and we are always looking for more ways to raise money - it is very hard! Charleston's homeless shelter has been building a new house for homeless families, where they can get help, get better and work towards getting a home of their own. Right next to it, is the big space where a playground should go. We need $15,000 to build this playground and we know that together, we can make this happen!
