The Problem

In my High School, education is not the reason why students come to school. They come to school to horse play, cause riots or just make lives misrable. The majority of students don't care about their high school education. If they don't care about high school, what will they do once high school is over for them? What they'll probably do is get a low paying job with no degree, join a gang and decrease their life span or become a person that is hooked on drugs. I can't stand where I go to school because kids are throwing their life away. My father threw his life away by not caring about his family and using drugs as a way of freedom. Why he did that? He did it because he thought no one cared. Well I care!!! And I can't stand to see another student throw their life away because someone doesn't care. By getting this grant, i can repaint the school, buy brand new books and computers and fund educational programs to expand the need of an education.

Plan of Action

My plan of action is to give the school a makeover. Clean-ups, repainting and gardening will make our school look more like a positive learning institute. My main plan of action though, is to bury a time capsule. In order for students to want to have a good future they need to start setting goals. In 2011, I plan to bury a time capsule with first grade elementry student letters and high school senior student letters with their goals in life ten years from 2011. In 2021, I plan to come back and open the time capsule and distribute the letters. These letters will either come true or be pending, depending on the person, but I hope that when they reopen the letters they will realize whether time was wasted or time was well spent. No matter what happens though, I hope they realize their achivments and I hope they realize it's never too late to continue their dreams.
