The Problem

As a member of the Trevor Project Youth Advisory Council, I am trying to solve the problem of discrimination against teens, and more importantly the pressing issue of suicide among Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Questioning teens. I am helping the LGBTQ community of Manatee and Sarasota county, in Florida.

Plan of Action

1) Establish a Gay Straight Alliance at my high school, Southeast High School. After I have set up my school's GSA, I will work with other LGBTQ students and allies around the county to establish a network of Gay Straigh Alliances. 2)I plan to write an educational workshop for teachers, and work with the school board to deliver the workshops to teachers and administrators around the county. 3) I will help a Gay support group set up its foundations in Bradenton, the group is called "Prism Youth Initiative." I am on their Youth Council, and will also deliver workshops at the support group, and engage the students in education on discrimination. 4) I will give educational student workshops at my school (and eventually others) as well as to gay groups in and around Manatee and Sarasota counties. 5) Spread the word of The Trevor Project through poster and mailing campaigns.
