My ninth grade year i went to a Christian school.
The name of my school was Brevard Christian School, located in Melbourne Florida.
I remember tons of images that i saw on t.v many which made me cry.
I thought how lucky I was to have a loving family a home and a chance to have an education.
I cried a lot and prayed even more.
The sites that I saw were extreamly devastating i seen streets full of dead bodies, many children left alone there parents just whiped away and left for death.
Everything really touched me and made me think differntly about life its self.
After seeing and hearing about the tsunami in the media I wrote to my school pastor and told him how important i felt it was that we all come together and step in as a whole and try to address this issue by helping each other to the best of our abilities.
My pastor called me down to the office and said that I had a great idea and partnered me up with a teacher who assisted me as we organized a shoe box collection.
A shoe box collection is many shoe boxes filled with the every day necessities.
In the shoe boxes there were things such as: tooth brushes, shampoo, soap, toilet paper, coloring books, crayons, yo-yo's, candy, etc. anything and everything that could help make a difference in a child's life.
Our small school raised over a hundred dollars and over a hundred shoe boxes that were all sent of to the tsunami victims.
After the organization i got a humanity award I wasn't expecting it but felt really honored to have it.
As i look back at my attempts to help the children i feel very happy and would love to take part in more organizations that help others in the future.
