The Problem

The world is faced with so many seemingly insurmountable problems - poverty, war, climate change, discrimination, and more. We seek to harness youth's passions to engage them in creating global impact.

Plan of Action

Galvanized by sexism and poverty I encountered in India, at thirteen, I founded Turn Your World Around (turnyourworldaround.org) to harness the power of youth in making a global difference. We started out small - raising funds and awareness by holding bakesales (we've baked >5,000 cupcakes), selling crafts, and hosting small fundraisers - but our idea was big. Through our programs - which have ranged from increasing access to education in the Sudan to building orphanages in India - we have raised over $100,000 and impacted thousands. Our website, turnyourworldaround.org is also a social-change portal that connects youth to activism opportunities; we have engaged youth from as far as Israel in starting projects tackling issues like climate change, poverty, and cancer. Through media and awareness-raising, we've inspired people across the globe to get involved. Now, we are working on a special initiative called the Stoplight Project that empowers sex-trafficking victims in India through social enterprise while also engaging youth in volunteerism.
