I began my work as a tutor at the beginning of my sophomore year in high school (August, 2004). My math teachers saw in me the ability to teach and urged me to help them tutor after school. After a few months of volunteering to tutor my peers, I came to the realization that tutoring was an opportunity worth pursuing, as it proved to be something that I both enjoyed and was good at doing. From that foundation, I began spreading the word that I was tutoring by informing friends and family. Not long after, people began calling me for help. I have tutored a wide array of people, ranging from teachers working towards their certification and college undergraduates to middle school advanced students and elementary students with learning struggles. As of last year, I tutored every day after school and occasionally on weekends, receiving twenty dollars per hour.
