The Problem

There are more than a billion people in the world without clean, safe water. It's hard to imagine, because water is so fundamental to life. It changes everything: sanitation & hygiene, health, education, empowerment of women, food security, and economic development. Living in a country where I have clean water, it's easy to take all this for granted. But I don't want to. I want to help. When it takes only $5,000 to drill a sustainable well in a developing nation and transform a community--even save lives--I can't just sit back and do nothing.

Plan of Action

Through a project called Twenty, I'm working to raise money for "charity: water" (charitywater.org) by collaborating with 20 artists and musicians. Through www.twentyproject.com and social media, I am selling songs and artwork donated by the 20 contributors throughout the year of 2011. I'm also taking action in my community by getting involved with events like benefit concerts. All proceeds will be donated to charity: water, a non-profit that uses 100% of public donations to fund water solutions, such as freshwater wells, in developing nations. Only $20 can provide one person clean water through a sustainable water project.

Project Updates

Woke up to a $100 donation and a $5 donation. Amazing! Now, 56 people have clean water because of Twenty.

As of today (April 14th), $1,000 has been raised for charity: water through Twenty. Now, 50 people have clean, safe water to drink! Getting closer to my $5,000 goal :)
