The Problem

HAVEN is a non-profit organization of Counseling Associates. HAVEN stands for Help for Abuse Victims in Emergency Need. HAVEN is a shelter for female children and adolescents, ages six through eighteen. It is a safe living environment for youth who have been physically or sexually abused, neglected, abandoned or who are homeless. U-tunes Benefit Concert helps raise money to help keep the shelter growing. For more information about the Faulkner Country HAVEN House can be found at: http://caiinc.org/services.htm

Plan of Action

Dr. Gary Roberts, a member of Advent Lutheran Church headed up an event called, Advent Arts and Acoustic Cafe, a benefit concert for the Bethlehem House, a local homeless help center. I told him I would like to do something like that with the youth of Advent. He worked with me to organize U-tunes and he has been helping me to keep it going for the past two years. As of now, we are working on the third annual U-tunes Benefit Concert, which will be held on April 24, 2009. This is an event I plan to keep active for as long as possible. The first youth U-Tunes concert was held on January 13, 2007 in which $1,523 was raised for HAVEN House. The second concert was on February 28, 2008 in which another $1,735 was raised for HAVEN House. I have scheduled a third U-Tunes concert for April 24, 2009. I hope to raise anywhere from $1,500 to $2,000 for HAVEN House. I hope with each concert, the money will help the HAVEN House stay active and help those in need.
