UC Davis Global Medical Brigades
the problem:
As a student-led organization at UC Davis, our goal is to help establish and maintain sustainable health care in rural villages in Honduras, the second poorest country in the western hemisphere. In addition to providing relief to a country where half the rural population lacks access to health care and the doctor to patient ratio is 1 to 1,667, we will be conducting health workshops in efforts to promote preventive medicine.

20why it's important:
Our group believes that the idea of universal health care we are currently striving toward should apply beyond the borders of our own country. Honduras is an impoverished, underrepresented and underserved country in need of help in establishing an adequate health care system to meet the medical needs of its people. We hope to contribute to the positive impact of this tremendous endeavor.
the plan of action:
We are an entirely student-run group and it is our responsibility to procure medication, recruit medical professionals, and raise enough money to fund a seven day trip to Honduras where we will set up a mobile health clinic in a rural village.
