Extensions of Hope is a movement that will help foster hope in the lives of people/groups that are loosing hope or considered 'hopeless'. Hope is a very important factor in life and can help people understand and reach their goals in life. We are a movement as opposed to an organization because our goal is to help strengthen other organizations and individuals. Our goal is to meet the most immediate needs of our community and help build bridges between different individuals and organizations. The Unique Family project will work with in elementary, middle and high schools and begin with support groups for children who are living in unique families. Families that face challenges and are made up of unique member ie. grandparents raising grandchildren, single parent households, households with incarcerated parents, foster children etc. I would like to begin with support groups where we kids can have an open forum for expressing their views, opinions and situations. We will work with school staff especially counselors to help schools get a better understanding of the needs of the students that they serve. It is our vision that support groups will grow into family nights and community family events that cater to these unique family situations. Although our primary focus is the youth that we serve we are very focused on getting families involved as well.
