The steps it took to create this organization were many combined. I, initially, talked about this project with several close friends and was, henceforth, able to gain support through them. I found different support systems both in my family and in the school administration, to gain more insight as to how a successful club runs. From there, I found partnerships with several school organizations like Youth Alive, a youth oriented organization that brings students with a passion for God together, and Interact Club, a high school branch of Rotary International which focuses on both national and international issues in the community. With the gain of support from so many different systems, I then went forward to create pages for this organization on social networks, like MySpace and Facebook in order to spread the word. From there, I decided to organize the group in one steady place, and was able to find major support within another community organization, Elks Lodge. They allowed us to use their facility for our regular meetings, and from there we organized. I delegated different duties to different people, and have just now created different committees for Public Relations, Fundraising, Recruitment, and Multimedia & Publicity. What this serves as is an organized method to allow for every different duty to be fulfilled in a timely manner. We are planning for our first annual event, which would take place in Summer ’09.
The impact that has been created is enormous. One of my friends that went on one of the mission trips with us told me how surprised she was to see so many families deprived in so much poverty. People have been impacted on both sides, though, for when we went to one of the landfill areas, one of the women, a mother of three children, told me in Spanish, how grateful she was to God that we went to their aid. She told me that this was an answer to her prayers. This only shows one thing, that what this organization has done so far, has gone so far, and still has more to go.
