Project Updates

Just Apparel continues to support artisans, their families, and secondary school scholarship students in Santiago Atitlan, Guatemala. You can now follow the Just Apparel women on twitter (www.twitter.com/justapparel) -- that's right, indigenous Guatemalan women who only speak a Mayan dialect are having the opportunity to share their thoughts via Just Apparel. Posts are originally in Spanish, and then a translation is reposted in English.

We have also recently launched a new eco-tote bag, not even available yet online. The fabric is from re-used coffee sacks from local coffee cooperatives, and it's sewn into a bag and embroidered by the Just Apparel artisans. Email customerservice@justapparel.org for customized or Just Apparel brand orders.

As we grow our support base, we are increasing sales and therefore our impact. We are constantly looking for volunteer promoters to get the word out and have now begun a search for a commission-based sales position. Email info@justapparel.org if you want to help promote or sell our fair trade products.

Just Apparel was recently accepted as a member of the Fair Trade Federation, a trade association dedicated to strengthening and promoting North American organizations fully committed to fair trade. Their support will allow JA to expand its outreach and change the lives of even more partner artisans.

However, we still need more people to buy Just Apparel products -- contact your sports team, your high school, your fraternity or sorority, or businesses where your family has been involved and encourage them to buy fair trade apparel through Just Apparel. If you're interested in being an official promoter, we have a packet available to help you get started. Email promote@justapparel.org, and get involved!
