Project Updates for The Alive Campaign Benefit Concert

Project Update - 01/26/09

Recently, I had to change the concert date from April 11 to May 19 due to the fact that not a lot of bands could be booked on April 11. Also, I am waiting for the finalization of booking arrangements to bring the band Building 429. My venue, the county coliseum, is currently on hold for my concert. All that is left is to finalize the arrangements for the band, find more people who would like to perform at the concert, raise more funds, and promote it. I must admit that I am excited as I see how well all of this is coming together.

So much has been going on! I feel like I have so much to do, but I can't seem to remember what! The concert is in less than a month and I am just about terrified. I have a budget of about $18,000. Yupp. A high school student has a budget of about $18,000 for a concert. If I don't get enough money, guess who has to pay for it. Yes. You see my dilemma. Let me give you an update on what's been happening:

It's over! We raised about $600 for the Alive Campaign and actually met budget ($16,000). It was the craziest day of my life on the day of the concert. I was literally running across the venue to get people ready on time. I was also at the venue from 11:30 am to 1 am. Crazy. Anyways, you can see some of my interviews here:

I already updated this after the concert, but figured I might as well let you know how this project has impacted me. We already mailed the check to The Alive Campaign which was around $600. It wasn't as much as I wanted to give them, but the concert budget was extremely expensive. Now that I have done this project, I realize that I can do anything. At the moment, I'm going off to college and often wonder how I'm going to pay my enormous loan. However, knowing that I have conquered the task of coordinating an entire concert, I have faith.
