Project Updates

The other week, there was a fight in the hallway between two middle schoolers. I was disappointed that they weren't able to talk out their differences and had to use violence. I talked to another student who had seen the play and also witnessed the fight. He reassured me that he remembered the lessons from "just kidding" and it made a difference to him.

The reality is that we sometimes forget lessons taught to us, and most need to be reminded many, many times until we can put life lessons into practice. That is a part of growing up, and we all make mistakes.

On November 20th, we staged our first performance of "just kidding". The middle school students were very attentive and actually liked the show. The teachers, school board members, principal, and superintendent were very impressed with the show as well, and are encouraging us to take our play to other schools.

In the days following the assembly, there were at least five different kids who went to a teacher and admitted to being bullied. It was great to know that the message got across to the students and that they decided to take action.

We’re all very excited with the responses from the teachers and students and hope other schools will welcome us to perform.
