Project Updates

10/14/2009

Our project to help get one Community Garden planted turned into a bigger project with 7 Community Gardens being planted in Ionia County. The Ionia County Community Food Network was established to help coordinate garden efforts and distribution organizations. Total from the gardens so far as been over 25,000 lbs of fresh produce distributed through local food pantries!

The Ionia County Community Food Network is a workgroup made up from representatives from the MSU Extension Office, the United Way & Volunteer Connections, our local Health Dept. along with Community Garden Coordinators and Food Pantry volunteers.

Ionia Kids Club members will help this group by working in local gardens and assisting with marketing and recruiting new volunteers.
