The Problem

What we have started is a weekly showcase that enhances and educates individuals in the area of arts and entertainment. We recognized that my generation has a deep stronghold in the music arena. We have also tried to get funding for a weekly seminar with a classroom approach with the same agenda. It is what they all want to do and what literally over powers there lives and attitudes. What they do not have are people to cultivate there talents and progress them as artists and human beings. Showing them that its not all about what you see and its simply how much you put into this. This is one phase of what we see as the turnaround of Chicago. We have named this movement the Urban Intelligence Project. We must not ignore what is popular we must mold it to be positive. We started this in the community of Englewood, Chicago. For decades it has held top slots in violence, gang action, and poverty. But one thing we exposed was an abundance of talent and us being there only escape.

Plan of Action

My plan to action is to have a showcase of talent weekly directly in the neighborhood I want to change. I have managed to do this on my own token since December 23rd. We hold a family talent show every Monday night that I host. It is literally the only place a family can go in this neighborhood and have fun...while also doubling as a platform for bringing these talents to the stage. My next step is to make this bigger and better by offering something to these kids that can take them out of there neighborhood.
