See It
Out city is Jonesboro, Ar. Our population ia about 60,000. The community we have reached out to is 60% Africian American and 20% Hispantic and 20% white American. The area our building is located in is low income and poverty stricken with a large number of single parent homes.
Believe It
Our organization mentor disadvantage youth. Our organization, Positive Impact for the Youth and Family Services reaches out to the community and offer positive mental change first as a option of looking at situation from a positive perspective and looking for positive solutions to teens everyday problems. We also team up with other organizations if the problem is severe. Our goal is to enhance, educate, empower and strengthen the youth and their families to bring unity in the homes and to equip the families to become self sufficient and productive.
Build It
Our schools are out for the summer, we have rented a building to have by-weekly mentoring classes for teens in transition. We have a fun room where kids can come and hang out and get off the streets and watch tv, play pool or use the computer. Since school is out, there are more kids coming and we don't have enough computers. The impact have been very positive and we are know teaming with Craighead county Juvenile Detention Center to get to the kids first before they make too many wrong choices.
How Can Others Get Involved?
