The Problem

The His Kids in Action club is all about providing children from low-income, high-risk, sometimes broken and abusive family situations a place where they can: feel safe, have fun, and receive help in the form of positive role models who can listen to them, give them one-on-one attention, and teach them positive Christian values. The problem the group faces is an inadequate way of getting the kids to this program.

Plan of Action

We plan to spend the remainder of the school year raising money through various fundraisers including one put on by the Walla Walla University Social Work club in an effort to attain enough funds to purchase a large van. This would be used to pick up the kids more efficiently without having to worry about using personal vehicles and having enough drivers.

Project Updates

Several exciting things have happened in the project in recent times. Firstly, Walla Walla University's Social Work, Drama, and Amnesty Clubs all came together to organize a fundraiser for HKIA in which we made over $700. Secondly, Susan and Bob Smith of Walla Walla University have helped us obtain paper from the Union Bulletin (the local newspaper), and snacks from the BMAC Food Bank. They have also helped us in innumerable other ways!
