On Nov 6th we went to a reunion of all the groups in the Bronx who helped with getting people to vote in the election for Mayor. Now we are also planning to prepare for our second meeting, on Dec 8th in Bx, to maintain the bonds that we have fostered and to continue to build a structure that can grow stronger. We are committed to effect positive change in our communities and we are working together. Our club will be able to speak on several issues we find such as a functioning library. On November 30th will be with a broad coalition of organizations working for social, ecological, racial and economic justice has come together under the banner of the Mobilization for Climate Justice.See today there are icebergs breaking off and headed for New Zealand. On Nov 30th we will hand out a statement written by club members to educate Our community. We will make calls to President Obama to ask him to attend the Copenhagen, Denmark "Climate Change" meeting of all nations.
Vote and Vote somemore
the problem:
Apathy and hopelessness make adults not Vote. We want to tell people to vote in every election and not to miss it. We found out that there are 20 and 23 years old people who have never voted.
vital stats:
people impacted:
300people involved:
25why it's important:
There is a lot at stake and we have to choose good people to solve problems in OUR neighborhoods. We have a lot of problems in Our area and We have to decide who is going to be our Leaders. They can't be chosen for us.
the plan of action:
We have begun already. We are handing out forms for those young people who have not registered with the government. We are helping in the campaign of Mr. Bill Thompson by handing out his information. For the next week we are going to get adults to pledge to promise vote on November 3rd.
Over this weekend we will be on corners in our neighborhood to say "Get Out & Vote, Please" We are also handing out voter registration cards to people who are about to turn 18.
how you can get involved:
Everyone can get involved. If someone is running for an office you can just call them up or go to their office and offer to help. Everyone can call or email or put on Facebook and MySpace "Remember to Vote". We can also give voting registration cards in birthday cards when someone turns 18 years old. We actually looked up "Emergency Ballots" and helped a lady to vote who was waiting for her registration card from the polling office. Another young boy escorted his grandmother to the polls so she could vote.
BECAUSE OF THIS PROJECT WE WERE INVITED TO A CELEBRATION OF ALL THE VOLUNTEERS TO "GET OUT THE VOTE" THEY HAVE ASKED US TO NOW STAY CONNECTED AND CONTINUE THE WORK. WE MEET AGAIN DEC.8TH 2009 AND WILL HAVE MONTHLY MEETINGS TO KEEP THE ENERGY ALIVE.

Comments
Dear Mr. Thompson,
You were great and we appreciate you for how you ran for the job of Mayor of NYC. We hope term limits can be put back in the law and we hope our communities can be as beautiful as the rich communities, with green spaces and clean streets, with a middle school, a high school, a library and good food stores.
Signed
The Go Green Community
