The Problem
Getting my community aware of migraines in children and that migraines are not just a 'typical headache' or 'no big deal'. Also, donations from my project will go to CHOC's neurological department to supply sunglasses, refillable water bottles, and sleep/eye masks to their patients.
The goal of my project is to provide information about children that suffer from migraines and how they deal with everyday situations. This walk is to bring the community together and help us become aware of this condition. Not many know the symptoms and pain of migraines. As a community we need to have a better understanding on how migraines affect a person and the people around them, especially when it is a child. week in a month and in some serious cases full 4 months. Even in the mildest cases there are people taking daily medication.
That is why as a community we need to come together and support our friends and family that suffer from this. In the course of my pre- planning and work of my project, I have talked to many adults and children who suffer from chronic migraines and/or know of someone who is living day- to-day with this condition. I have realized that many people think lightly of this medical condition, they only think of migraines as just a headache, but to a sufferer it is much more. Most people suffer from
episodes lasting 3-7 days perweek in a month and in some serious cases full 4 months. Even in the mildest cases there are people taking daily medication.

Plan of Action
On Saturday August 28, 2010, I am running an awareness walk around the Huntington Lake (in Huntington Beach Central Park) with informational booths to involve the community about the subject. Then after I will be taking donations to CHOC's Hospital.
