The Problem
The residents at the Evergreen Living facility are exposed to the winter weather when they go to activities or get mail and if they need something warm during the cold winter months they would have something. I just wanted to make sure that the elderly residents are warm and know that some one is thinking of them.
Plan of Action
I made 175 lap blankets and 175 shawls for the residents of Evergreen and when I had completed the project I planned a party for the residents. I got with Evergreens Activity Director and set a date for me to give the residents their gifts. I served them cookie (which I made), had coffee and gave them their suprises. I also had some of the younger Girl Scouts in my community write them some "Thinking of you" cards. The residence enjoyed the party and the cards; then when I told them they could come and get their gifts they could not believe that I was not charging them for the items. I had to tell them often that I just wanted to give them something and let them know that they are thought of. I had several residents send me thank you card and some even wanted to give me money for the items and I told them to spend the money on themsleves; just remember that people do care for them.
