We had our first team conference with prospective leaders of our organization and shared the following presentation about our initiative.
"It is all a façade. Everything you think of me. Everything everyone told you. Everything I ever showed you. It’s nothing. It means nothing. This week, I cried my hardest tears, dreamed only my fears—nightmares, they were—that I would not succeed. That I could not achieve was all that I could deem. And as I slept in my car, penniless, broken, and depressed, wondering “why me?” and “what now?,” I cried out to God, “Make me whole. Give me vision. Bestow your favor, and grant me wisdom.” This was my plea.
I was nothing. I had nothing. I write with only $15 to my name, and I yearn, and I hunger. I want, and I desire. I need. My ambition is no less than it has been, but now my spirit wants more—of myself and of you, and what we have before us. Our future is bright. The platform is ours. Together, we will share and tell the stories of a multitude. Together we will tell our stories. Together, we have no ceilings on what we can accomplish. Together, we are storied, and we have only one direction—forward."
