The Problem

We Are The Future continues to be instrumental in the development of the lives of its youth members. With an on site professional recording studio we offer our youth members state of the art recording time in exchange for their time spent doing community outreach projects and participating in fund raising events. Currently our youth are working on a variety of projects including raising funds to benefit the children of Uganda, and trash removal in many of the neighborhoods in our community along with a musical/theatrical performance dedicated to Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.. Our group also continually voices their own positive message through live performances of their original music during a variety of community events and activities.

Plan of Action

We Are The Future has been critical in preventing the at-risk behaviors associated with the socio-economic conditions of which many of our members face on a daily basis. Through the activities of the program our youth members learn about civic responsibilities while developing the skills necessary in becoming the future leaders of our community. Along with providing a safe place for students to express themselves, we also offer opportunities for growth not otherwise found throughout the local community. Our adult mentors and youth development coordinators offer guidance and assistance to youth facing important decisions in their personal lives, and also offer tutoring and guidance when considering college preparation. Our youth learn about and address the needs of their neighbors while also learning to teach others as they come to better understand their own personal development.
