The Problem

Chicago has been turned upside down with violence and the latest killing of Darrion Albert a 16 y/o who was beaten to death during a meaningless gang fight, has sparked an out cry for community action! 2 of the young men accused of Darrion's murder are from my neighborhood Altgeld Gardens.

Plan of Action

Myself and a few other very concerned friends are ready to re-establish a youth center in Altgeld Gardens and have it focus on the problem of violence and gangs. we hope that providng youth with alternative positive activities, homeowrk help, Counseling, visual and preforming art therapy, Sports and recreation,it will deter them from choosing the life style of gangs and violence. We also want to make this a Strong community project incorporating volunteers from the community creating weekly agendas to speak out against the things that plauge our community, hosting workshops on the weekends to empower the community to become activist and fight to take our community back!
