Vital Stats

See It

My project is simple but the results are much needed. If I receive the Do Something Grant I am going to organize a group of children within my community who want to see trash eliminated from our community streets and yards and Recycle it. The majority population of my neighborhood is African-American and I would like to show that we respect and maintain our communities too! I was recently told to be the change that I would like to see in the world. Therefore, I will take initiative and allocate two weekends where we will collect and recycle as much trash as we can. Not only will we beautify our community but we will be making an effort to helping the biggest community of all-Planet Earth! I asked the city of Cincinnati for weeks to send our free recycling bin. Now that I have it I find myself calling for someone to come pick up the bin that is overflowing with recyclables. I made a trip to take the items to the recycling drop off site even though the bin is supposed to be picked up with the regular trash. Since I know I am one of the few in my community who does recycle, I figured that the recycling company believes one trip to pick up my items is not worth while. So I will put forth effort to inform my community of the benefits and importance of recycling. I will push and even make calls to get everyone a recycling bin. I like to think of recycling as one of my small efforts in saving the planet. The grant will help purchase bio-degradable garbage bags and gloves. I would love to have "WE RECYLE!" t-shirts and pizza for the children who help. I would have to transport the recyclables to the drop off site; some of the money would go towards gas. Also, the money would go towards printing the advertising of the project and information about the importance of recycling.
