PJH StuCo kicked off "Purple Ribbon Week" to remember victims of domestic violence at our homecoming football game on 10/8. Donors gave $54 for Safe-T. Student Council students passed out purple balloons to the fans, and at half-time of our 7th grade game, Student Council President Megan Jarvis and Vice President Geromy Porter spoke about domestic violence in our area. During a moment of silence, student council members and the fans released the balloons to remember domestic violence victims.
Wear Two, Leave One
the problem:
We are trying to collect coats for children and their mothers who are staying at the Safe-T abuse shelter in our nearby city of Mt. Pleasant, Texas.

30why it's important:
We want to especially help children who have had to flee from their homes with their mothers. These kids have had to leave, often with only the clothes on their backs. So we would like to share with them.
the plan of action:
In October we are planning to collect coats to donate to the shelter. October 14th is "Wear Two, Leave One" day, when students can wear two coats, hoodies, or jackets, and take one off to donate to the coat drive. During October, any student who donates a coat will receive a raffle ticket (one per coat donated), and will be eligible to win a free PJH hoodie.
how you can get involved:
We would like to be able to continue to support Safe-T throughout the school year. We will be doing food drives, toy drives, "necessities" drives, secret Santa, and other projects to continue to help those living at the shelter. Monetary gifts to our organization will allow us to purchase specific items for Safe-T.
