I work at the Wells Township Haunted House in Brilliant, Ohio. The house was set up to give teens something to do and to keep us off of the streets and out of trouble. The house is run by the Wells Township police, and adults as well as teens also work there. We [the teens] are kept in a safe environment, because adults have to pass a criminal back-round check before they are allowed to work at the haunted house. Some people think that the house is just a day care center, as such rumors have been spread, but this is very untrue. We don’t just sit around and do nothing; we work very hard on our rooms to make sure they are perfect for October when we begin touring people through the house. We have had a lot of press coverage such as being in the news papers and on the news. We have also gotten a lot of positive feedback from the community and other people that have visited the house. We have had people from all over come and tour the house. We have had some people from many different states come tour our house, and some said it was the best they’ve seen yet. 1201 tourist have toured the house this year, including the lights on tour, which is a tour for the younger kids, who are to young to come through a normal tour. We take great pride in what we do and in our house and if we got this grant, it would help us out so much. This grant would be used to by wood, paint, nails, staples, and much other needed things for the house. We begin our work in June and work up until October. Everyone just works so hard to make their room perfect and to make sure it’ll work out come October. We want to keep people coming back for more each and every year and each year we try to improve as much as we can. There have been 7200 plus man hours put into the house this year.
