The Problem

Wetlands are an important part of nature as well as key to the ecosystem. Houses are constantly being built upon wetlands destroying a beautiful landscape that also serves as many species home. According to the Environmental Protection Agency, “up to one-half of North American bird species nest or feed in wetlands”. The EPA also states that, “in 1991 wetland-related null activities such as hunting, fishing, bird-watching, and photography added approximately $59 billion to the national economy”. The YVC and I understand the urgency in the need to end the environmental destruction. People do not understand the importance of wetlands, we want them to see how vital they are to the world.

Plan of Action

We will be collaborating with other individuals and groups to build the “Wetlands Boardwalk”. Once we have all of our volunteers gatehred, we will begin setting a course of action in place.
